Problem: Athletes are only thinking about what these performance drugs will do for them in the present time, however they are not thinking about what happens in the long run.
Athletes are trying to get an edge on each other by any way possible. All they are starting to care about is how I can be better than someone else. When people are telling them “Hey if you were to use this kind of drug you will be faster and stronger”. Immediately these athletes are just taking them instead of actually looking into it. Now a day you see coaches being busted for giving their athletes certain types of drugs. This is a huge problem. Obviously an athlete is going to think it is ok to do these drugs if their own coach is telling them to do so. In order to get these athletes to understand how bad these drugs are there needs to be more consequences when being caught using these drugs. Usually when an athlete is caught using these drugs they are just getting a couple games suspension. This is not really a huge punishment to me. I believe these players should be banned from the league they are playing in. If this was the rule then I guarantee you would see many athletes not taking the risk of using these drugs. Also then sports would go back to how they used to, which was watching these amazing athletes that have been blessed with great abilities doing things everyone wishes they could do. These athletes that are cheating should be ashamed of themselves and they will end up paying for it in the long run. It is just a shame that no one is taking these drugs as serious as they should.
